Upstairs at the Little Theatre on Preview Night

The crowd is gathering, the cast is warming up, the theatre is clean and shining and the coffee is brewing. That's right folks, it's preview night for The Sound of Music!

Tomorrow night is Opening Night and I Have Confidence that this show is going to be awesome!

Sitting upstairs writing this, it's fun to hear the hubbub downstairs. You can absolutely feel the excitement in the cast, in the audience, even the backstage crew. They're absolutely ready for a great show!

If you've seen the Julie Andrews film, you've definitely seen something special. I remember how excited I was the first time I saw it. It was my birthday. It was New York City. And I was at Radio City Music Hall with my three best friends and my Mom. I kid you not. My friends and I wore our best dresses and we all took the train into the city for the movie, capped off by a performance by the Rockettes! Absolutely a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

But there's really nothing to compare with seeing and hearing this show live onstage, right here at your San Luis Obispo Little Theatre. The beautiful voices, the exuberant young actors, the awesome set and the intimate setting make this classic musical even more special.

And you know what? The best part of it is, it doesn't have to be "once-in-a-lifetime."

I'm a very lucky girl that I get to sit upstairs and listen to all the sounds of the Little Theatre.
I'm even luckier that I get to go downstairs and watch the show.

Care to join me?

May 24-June 23

Featuring: Kerry DiMaggio as Maria and John Laird as Captain von Trapp with Ariana Shakibnia, Trevyn Wong, Mackenzie Allen, Sacha Carlson, Marisa Dinsmoor, Ella Harris and Serafina Regusci as the von Trapp children and featuring Kelly Fidopiastis, Larry Kaml, Kathryn Gucik, Paul Osborne, Janice Peters, Ayrton Parham, Danielle Dutro, Carey Blauvelt, Allison King, and Kristina Horacek

(And you'd better hurry... they're going fast!)

Have a great Memorial Day Weekend everyone. I'll see you at the show!

Upstairs at the Little Theatre on Benefit Preview Night

These are just SOME of my favorite things. Seriously, what's not to like about "whiskers on kittens?" But I do have just a few others. Like talented kids who sing and dance.

And classic musicals that never get old.

Speaking of which, you do know that The Sound of Music opens next Friday, don't you?  Have you got your tickets yet?

2. SUMMER "JUKEBOX" MUSICALS
Look at that. I just gave you a sneak peek at our summer fundraising show! You can't buy tickets quite yet, but if you can sing, dance, act and want to spend part of your summer doing all three, why not AUDITION? We're still looking for some great actresses to fill out the cast of our upcoming summer fundraiser WHY DO FOOLS FALL IN LOVE? We need great singers with impeccable comic timing. If that's you, contact Kevin Harris to set up an audition time at kevinharris@slolittletheatre.org.

3. THE FABULOUS 2013-2014 LITTLE THEATRE SEASON
We're almost there folks! And the Little Theatre's 2013-2014 Season is TRULY going to be one of my most favorite things ever! We have a season lined up that you are going to absolutely LOVE!  Keep an eye on your mailbox. Our season brochure should arrive there in the first week of June. If you're not sure you're on our mailing list, then BE SURE!  Email pattythayer@slolittletheatre.org to get yourself on the list.

Another one of my favorite things. Don't you just love that sculpture outside the Little Theatre's front door? Feel free to stop by and say hello next time you're in the neighborhood.
I'll be here.

No shows this weekend, but we'll be here putting the final touches on The Sound of Music.
If you haven't gotten your tickets yet, you know what to do!

Have a GREAT weekend!

AFTER THE REVOLUTION packs the house, THE SOUND OF MUSIC approaches tech, and our season announcement is COMING! This week at the Little Theatre!

Good afternoon friends of the Little Theatre,

The UBu's Other Shoe presentation of After the Revolution, by Amy Herzog, opened and closed this weekend at the Little Theatre. Congratulations to the cast and crew (and director David Hance!) After the Revolution was one of this season's best-selling Ubu's Other Shoe presentations. Click HERE to check out this great article about After the Revolution and UBu's Other Shoe in the New Times. If you haven't been attending our Ubu's shows, you've been missing some of the best plays presented in the area. The Sound of Music is heading into its final week of rehearsals before tech and the show is looking great! Opening night is already completely sold out and many other performances are almost full! Don't miss your chance to see this classic american musical, directed and choreographed by Zach Johnson, on the Little Theatre stage. Get your tickets by clicking HERE. Ray and Jaime Hatler

San Luis Obispo Little Theatre is a non-profit organization.  It doesn't exist to make money for shareholders.   It exists to present quality theatrical productions for the entertainment and enrichment of our community.  Thanks to all those members who donate money to the Little Theatre, we are able to stay in business and do what we do.

In their trust, Ray and Jaime Hatler left a very generous bequest to the Little Theatre.  The bench outside the entrance to the Little Theatre commemorates their contribution.  Some of our other donors joined us for an informal ceremony to install the plaque.  Watch the video and join us in thanking Ray and Jaime for their belief in the Little Theatre and its mission.

Rosh Wright talks about the Little Theatre to local women's group

Rosh Wright was the invited speaker at last Tuesday's meeting of the South Bay Women's Network in Los Osos. The group meets monthly and offers its members networking time with other business women and informative presentations (such as ours!) from a variety of speakers on topics relevant to business and the goals of business women.

Over 23 members attended the luncheon.  At the end of Rosh's talk, we had a drawing for two complimentary tickets to the Little Theatre; Linda Settevendemie was the lucky winner!

Rosh's talk was part of the Little Theatre's Speakers Bureau. Do you need a program for your club or organization? We have speakers who will come to you and present an informative and entertaining talk about the Little Theatre. Call (805) 624-5792 or click and fill out his inquiry form.

proud representatives of the Little Theatre
