Taking Shakespeare's plays and sonnets as her inspiration, Suzy has crafted yet another high-energy, dance-filled, musical comedy spectacular. The title is taken from Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, where Duke Orsino declares:

"If music be the food of love, PLAY ON!"

A CHORUS LINE adds TWO SHOWS, AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY is coming, SUMMER CAMPS are selling out, and our 2014-2015 season is right around the corner This week at the Little Theatre!

A Chorus Line continues its record-breaking run at the Little Theatre! The second weekend of shows was completely sold-out, and this incredible cast and crew is reaping the benefits of months of hard work in rehearsal. Director/Choreographer Zach Johnson and Musical Director Lacey McNamara have created a true spectacle on the Little Theatre stage.

Due to the demand for tickets, we are adding two performances of  A Chorus Line: Sunday, June 1 at 7:00 PM and Sunday June 15 at 7:00 PM. There are still great seats available for these two shows. Click HERE to get your tickets.

The 10th anniversary season of Ubu's Other Shoe end with the Pulitzer Prize-winning August: Osage County, directed by Anet Carlin. Just when you thought you'd experienced everything the Little Theatre has to offer, we've come up with something new!  Join us after another sold-out performance of A Chorus Line for an evening of wonderful songs performed by some of your favorite local singers at the inaugural Little Theatre Piano Bar and Cabaret!

Relax with a glass of wine in the transformed Little Theatre lobby and enjoy over 10 great local singers performing their favorite songs accompanied by Jacqueline Edwards on the piano. A CHORUS LINE had a fabulous sold-out opening weekend and will continue to run through June 15th. Shows are filling up rapidly, with the center section sold-out or nearly sold-out for every show, but there are still excellent seats available on either side of our thrust stage. I sat on the far right side for the opening night performance and LOVED it! Director Zach Johnson has done a fabulous job staging this show so that there is truly not a bad seat in the house. Yep. Another month has gone by and it's time once again for NO SHAME! Join us this Friday, May 23rd,  for unpredictable, uncensored, original, always entertaining, FREE, LIVE theatre. Better yet, write something and join us on stage! Doors open at 9:30 pm, submissions are accepted beginning at 10 pm and the show starts at 10:30 pm. See you there!

I know, I know...you've been hearing about it for a month now and yet tickets are still NOT available! Soon, I promise. VERY soon. There's a LOT that goes in to launching a season like this! Do you know that we're planning 25 plays, 225 performances on 45 out of 52 weekends next season? That's more than any other theatre in the state! We're currently working our little fingers to the bone getting our season brochure ready for printing, PLUS we're installing a new ticket printer (thanks to a generous grant from The Community Foundation of San Luis Obispo County!) PLUS we're updating our website with ALL of those performance listings PLUS...well, trust me, we've been busy!

The fabulous Suzy Miller is back for our first gala musical fundraiser of the season and it's going to be truly SPECTACULAR! The show opens on July 4th and trust me, it'll be more fun than fireworks!

JUNE 6:   Our Season brochure hits the streets and season subscriptions are on sale!

Now, I'd better finish up a few other projects before the cast of Play On! arrives to rehearse and distract me with their "flights of fancy from Shakespeare to Sondheim!" It's tough to concentrate sometimes with all that great music going on downstairs. :)

A CHORUS LINE...then and now.

1995 and 2004 Casts of A Chorus Line

As we look forward to opening night of A CHORUS LINE on Friday, I thought I'd give you another photo blog, courtesy of our incredible photographer, Jamie Foster! However, there's a bit of twist this time. You see, almost 20 years ago, in our second season here in the City Playhouse, there was another production of A Chorus Line staged featuring several still familiar faces. I'll be scattering a few of those "Throw-back Thursday" photos throughout this blog post - just for fun!

Oh, and one more thing...yes, we are sold-out or nearly sold-out for most every performance!  However, there are still great seats, located on the side seating areas of our thrust stage, available throughout the run of the show. Director Zach Johnson's staging has wonderful sight lines and trust me, you'll thoroughly enjoy the show from the sides, so don't be afraid to book those seats when that's all that's left! Besides, they're discounted, so you'll save money!

Dark Weekend, Gold Costumes, 14/15 Season. All Signs Point to Great Theatre on the Central Coast!

The gold costumes have arrived! Thanks to Keith Wetzel at Costume Capers, we have our finale costumes for A CHORUS LINE!  Just look at those hats! This weekend we'll be in tech rehearsals and we open our blockbuster season finale show on Friday, May 16th.
