Peter O'Toole retires, leaves golden hairbrush and rocks glass behind!

Hello friends of the Little Theatre,

Yesterday, Sir Peter O'Toole released the following statement:

Dear All,

It is time for me to chuck in the sponge. To retire from films and stage. The heart for it has gone out of me: it won't come back.

My professional acting life, stage and screen, has brought me public support, emotional fulfillment and material comfort. It has brought me together with fine people, good companions with whom I've shared the inevitable lot of all actors: flops and hits.

However, it's my belief that one should decide for oneself when it is time to end one's stay.

So I bid the profession a dry-eyed and profoundly grateful farewell.

Ever,
Peter O'Toole

Here are some of O'Toole's most memorable moments:

MY WAY continues to swing, ANNE OF AVONLEA enters the home stretch, ARCADIA begins rehearsals, and an AMAZING Ubu's Other Shoe season! Monday at the Little Theatre...

Good afternoon Board, staff, and artistic teams of the Little Theatre,

The cast and crew of My Way finished up their second weekend of performances on Sunday. The show is selling well and audiences have loved it. Our Martini Night performances have been a little light, so, if you do participate in any word-of-mouth advertising, please try to push Saturday evenings. REMINDER: we also begin Thursday night performances this Thursday.

After a three week conversation with Dramatists Play Service, I’m pleased to announce that the Little Theatre has secured to rights to SEVERAL of the most dynamic plays in American theatre today for Ubu’s Other Shoe 2012-2013 season. These plays include: Good People, Time Stands Still, After the Revolution, Photograph 51, and Red. What an amazing season- stay tuned for specific dates/times!

Don’t miss ANOTHER great play presented by Ubu’s Other Shoe: Arcadia, by Tom Stoppard, directed by Suzy Newman. Arcadia plays on July 27 and 28 at 7:00 PM. Click HERE for your tickets.

Anne of Avonlea opens soon: August 3-12. Get your tickets HERE.

Be sure to catch John Laird on KSBY New tomorrow morning at 7:30 PM singing a song for My Way!

DATE TO REMEMBER: August 5--- this is the date of our annual Open House and Volunteer Appreciation Party. Come celebrate our 65th anniversary season with the people that made it happen! More details to come soon.

Thank you everyone for everything that you do to make this theatre work. As always, please let me know if there’s anything that the Board or staff can do to make your time with us more enjoyable and rewarding.

Will it work without Max Von Sydow?

Happy Friday friends of the Little Theatre,

Were you aware that THIS is happening?

In less than 3 hours, The Exorcist will open at the Geffen playhouse. This stage adaptation of William Peter Blatty's gore-filled novel and William Friedkin's soup-filled film stars Richard Chamberlain and Brooke Shields (as the mother and head priest dude, respectively.)

This is very exciting, for two reasons: first, the inherent risk of bringing an iconic horror experience to the stage is intoxicating...only if this fails, it will fail BIG. Personally, the idea of a stage adaptation of The Blue Lagoon seems like more a sure-thing, if only to have the illusion of getting between Brooke and her Calvins. For now, watching her shriek for 90 minutes will have to suffice. Second..this could be really good. Like, REALLY good. If it is, people will remember it as the production that changed theatre in 2012. Success for The Exorcist would certainly beget a flash flood of movie-to-play (not musical) copycats. Diner would be on this list. The Big Chill (starring Tatum Channing and Ryan Reynolds) would follow. Soon, the great white way will look like the discount DVD bin at Walmart, and I'll finally be able to fulfill a dream to simultaneously attend a Broadway show AND enjoy Joe Eszterhas's overthetopness.

DON'T CALL HIM LEBOWSKI

One can dream.

This will be a fun one to watch. Click HERE to see the trailer.

"THE POWER OF NAME RECOGNITION COMPELS YOU!"

Have a great weekend everyone,

Kevin

MY WAY had a great first weekend, and martini night tickets are going fast!

Congratulations to the cast/crew of My Way which opened last Friday. What a great opening weekend! Here's what Joseph Young had to say in the Tribune this morning:
  | San Luis Obispo
Congratulations to the Little Theater for its great tribute to Frank Sinatra and his music. I must admit that I wondered how they would carry it off without the great big band backing by the likes of Neil Hefty, Billy May, Count Basie and others, but Steven Tosh did a marvelous job of arranging all of the music, directing the singers and playing all the accompaniment with his piano and trio.
This is a must see and hear for all who enjoyed the talent, phrasing, timing and musical interpretations of “The Master.”

Good seats are going away for this weekend's performances. Click HERE to get order your tickets instantly online.
Have a great 4th, everyone. Click HERE and witness the awesome.
