Greetings fans of the Little Theatre! I hope you're all set for a great celebration this weekend. Fireworks, friends, family, barbecue - whatever your tradition of celebrating Independence Day, I hope you have a BLAST!
The Little Theatre is dark this weekend, sorry! But while you're out there beaching and barbecuing, the cast and crew of WHY DO FOOLS FALL IN LOVE? will be hard at work right here putting the finishing touches on this delightful musical comedy.
Volunteer Ron Burkhart and Technical Director Dave Linfield are busy today creating set pieces, props and painting the colorful 60's set. Did you know that our lobby doubles as a construction shop?
Meanwhile, director Kevin Harris and talented actresses Jessie Quandt, Danielle Levin, Deirdre Loy and Shannon Peters are busy putting the finishing touches on a few musical numbers before adding in all the lights, sounds and costumes this weekend. The photo above was taken as the actresses tried on their costumes for the first time today. (Left to right: Deirdre Loy, Shannon Peters and Jessie Quandt.)
For the past several weeks, as I've been working upstairs during rehearsals, it's been all I could do to keep my mind on my work instead of singing along with such classic 60's favorites as "I Will Follow Him," "Hey There Lonely Boy," "It Hurts to Be in Love," "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" and dozens more. It's amazing to watch a show like this come together, from rough read-throughs to polished production!

CRITICS SAY:
"If 'Sex and the City' were a 1960's musical, it would be 'Why Do Fools Fall in Love!' Nostalgic, funny, delightful and enchanting. Don't miss it!"
If you haven't gotten your tickets yet, you'd better hurry! Opening Night on July 12th is going to be a BLAST!

If you're an actress between the ages of 18 and 60 (or so) you are invited to come on down to the theatre next Monday and Tuesday to audition for INDEPENDENCE. Lee Blessing is one of my favorite playwrights and you're going to absolutely love this script. Not only that, but you get to work with director Suzy Newman on this amazing 4-woman play. What could be better?
CLICK HERE for more information about auditions, and ladies, we'll see you on Monday. :)
Last week, the Academy of Creative Theatre (ACT) was in full swing with summer camps for children ages 5-12. ACT Coordinator Kerry DiMaggio and camp teacher Taylor Peters led campers through a week of theatre games and exercises, culminating in a mini-performance for family and friends on Friday. As you can see, a wonderful time was had by all!
ACT offers a variety of educational programs for children all year long. From summer camps to after-school programs to two full theatrical productions every year, ACT provides a valuable resource for parents and children alike, offering a creative outlet for kids and theatrical training that is no longer offered in our local schools. Finally, I am really stoked about next season, aren't you? This is such a great slate of shows and you're going to love them all. I promise. If you haven't checked them out yet, do it HERE. And if you haven't bought your season tickets yet...do it NOW! Tickets are now available on line and you can even pick out your own seats!
CLICK HERE to buy your season subscription today for as little as $99 for all five shows AND REMEMBER: only season subscribers can buy an UBU'S OTHER SHOE staged reading season pass for just $5 per show! Such a deal!
I'm heading to the beach tomorrow for the 4th, but I'll be back here on Friday, sitting upstairs listening to rehearsals for Why Do Fools Fall in Love? (opening next Friday!) and happily working away at supporting this wonderful Little Theatre. Thanks for listening and I hope to see you soon. Have a great holiday!
-Patty
